Responsible gambling

Gambling should cost exactly what you planned to spend on it, and stop when the plan says so. This site publishes strategy material for adults who have already decided to play; nothing on it is a suggestion to start, and nothing on it works as an income. If the arithmetic in our guides ever starts to feel like a promise, that is the signal to close the tab, not to raise the stake.

Limits you set yourself

Most of what we publish assumes limits written before a session: a deposit ceiling, a loss line, a time box. Set them with whatever tools your casino and bank offer, write them down, and treat the written number as the one that counts. Offshore operators are not part of the UK’s statutory framework, so the routine that keeps play recreational is mostly yours to build — our self-braking guide lists the layers worth stacking.

Self-exclusion, stated plainly

The UK’s self-exclusion scheme covers operators licensed here. Sites licensed elsewhere are outside it, and registration does not follow you across. If you have excluded and offshore access worries you, use device-level blocking, banking controls and account closures in combination, and treat any operator that ignores an exclusion request as a brand to leave immediately. Where a site offers its own cooling-off tools, use them before you need them rather than after.

When play stops being a choice

Chasing losses, hiding play from people close to you, borrowing to stake, or feeling the urge to win back a bad evening are all signs that deserve attention sooner rather than later. The National Gambling Helpline is free, confidential and open around the clock; its link and number sit in the footer of every page on this site. Speaking to it early is cheaper than every alternative, and the person answering has nothing to sell you.
